Qualfon, a people-driven business process outsourcing (BPO) company and global provider of contact center services, announced today that it gave a free bicycle to Steven Ryan, a veteran of the Airborne Infantry (deployed in Iraq 2009-2010) and Qualfon Contact Center Representative in Fort Collins, Colorado. An overwhelming number of anonymous nominations and votes identified Ryan as highly deserving of the new Qualfon-branded bike. The bike giveaway was part of the STRIDES Rides bike-sharing program, which supports employees’ needs for transportation, encourages physical activity, and promotes Qualfon’s name in the local community.

Each client account at the Qualfon Fort Collins contact center participated in the bike giveaway, designing their own criteria to determine who from their team would be the winner. Some bikes were awarded by job performance metrics such as quality scores or customer satisfaction surveys while others were given away by random drawing. In total, six bikes were awarded, but Steven Ryan’s case stands out among them all.

Ryan’s fellow employees anonymously nominated him, writing submissions to management explaining Ryan’s desire for a bike and why they thought he deserved it the most. These short essays swayed management’s decision. Members of leadership voted on the nomination details without knowing who specifically was nominated. Ryan not only received the most nominations but also the most votes.

“For our bike giveaway, we asked ourselves: How can we live up to our company mission to make people’s lives better?” said Allison Stever, Contact Center Supervisor and chief organizer of the bike giveaway. “In this case, we decided to let the employees decide who deserved the bike, and what a success it was! The program clearly identified a need within our employee community, and we’re so happy to be contributing to Steven’s quality of life.”

When Ryan received the bike, he responded, “I want people to know what a great company this is and that they’ve made a real difference in my life. Receiving this bike right when I needed it most made me feel valued and helped me realize just what kind of a company I really work for.” His hard work and his stylish new bike have not gone unnoticed. “I get compliments on the bike all the time,” said Ryan. “Since it’s my primary mode of transportation, I take every chance I get to let people know about Qualfon and what a great place it is to work.”

Before receiving the Qualfon bicycle, Ryan commuted to work using an unreliable bike that was in need of significant repairs. Ryan works split shifts and takes on as much overtime as possible, which means he commutes multiple times per day and bikes to and from the office more often than the average employee.

Assistance with reliable transportation is an important need that is in high demand at Qualfon Fort Collins. As a result, Stever is currently working with the Qualfon leadership team to expand the STRIDES Rides bike-sharing program, but she is also investigating other outside assistance. After gathering donated bikes from a variety of sources, Stever hopes to solidify a partnership with the Fort Collins Bike Co-op that will provide onsite bike maintenance services and offer bike repair training for Qualfon’s growing cyclist population.

At Qualfon, employees stay two times longer than the industry average, keeping attrition low.

Jobs Uptick from Booming Business All Around

So why the sudden uptick in jobs? Qualfon’s outsourced customer service business isQualfon INW Office2 booming, and its clients’ businesses are growing too. “Qualfon is recognizing exceptional performance with our list of current clients, which means our clients are asking us to expand our scope of work with them and take on more of their volume,” explained Reynolds. But that is only half the story. “The demand increase we’re experiencing is then multiplied by our clients’ own success and their sales and service goals for the upcoming holiday season,” he said.

With the stronger overall economy and because many of Qualfon’s clients are major consumer brands in the telecommunications, entertainment, retail, financial services, and security industries, Qualfon needs to ramp up its ability to serve more of its clients’ customers in Q3 and Q4. “But these aren’t short-term holiday jobs,” said Reynolds. “These jobs are long term because this is long-term, organic growth that just coincides with the holiday season.” Unlike temporary holiday jobs, Qualfon’s 1,400 open positions offer a set schedule and additional earning opportunities on top of a competitive base wage with medical benefits and paid time off. Reynolds added, “This is a great place to earn extra money and gain exposure across a diverse list of major brands in a variety of industries.”

Qualfon, a people-driven bDunk Tankusiness process outsourcing (BPO) company and global provider of contact center services, sponsored a dunking booth at its contact center in Fort Collins, Colorado that had employees competing against each other to see how many times they could successfully dunk their boss.

The dunking machine consisted of a large tank of cold water, over which a series of Qualfon managers rotated throughout the day, sitting on the tank’s collapsible seat. Employees took turns throwing a baseball at the dunk tank’s target which, when hit, caused the seat to collapse, dropping the manager into the water.

“Nothing says fun-at-work like a dunk tank,” exclaimed Kyle Ellis, Director of Client Relations. Qualfon’s Fun@Work program sponsored the dunk tank activity, sending out emails to employees with messages like: “Ethan Roberts will be in the Dunk Tank from 3:30 – 4:00. We want to make a record of how many times someone can get dunked in one sitting. There is no better time! It is getting pretty hot out there, so we want to be sure he doesn’t have to be out of the water too long. ;)”

One of the most funtastic moments at the dunking booth came when Scott Peterson, Site Director of Qualfon Fort Collins, confidently adorned the dunking chair with his coffee mug in hand. “We’ve got to hand it to him. Scott has some talent,” explained Rocio Chartier, Activities Coordinator at Qualfon Fort Collins, in her email sharing Scott’s waterlogged photo with all of the Fort Collins employees. “He managed to save his coffee from getting dunked, but unfortunately we cannot say the same for him.”

“Qualfon is known for being a fun place to work and this is another example of how Qualfon incorporates entertaining and enjoyable activities into everyday life at the office. You don’t find companies like this everywhere. It really is a fun place to work,” added Ellis.

“We do all these crazy things because Qualfon truly believes that our office should be a place that our employees look forward to,” said Chartier. “When we put people first, just like our company mission states, our employees like to be here and take an interest in making this a great place. That’s when all the rest of our business falls beautifully into place.”

Other Fun@Work activities at Qualfon Fort Collins this year have included launching new fun clubs, a cook-off competition, and Qualfon-branded bicycle and shirt giveaways. Learn about open positions at Qualfon Fort Collins at www.QualfonJobs.com.
