Qualfon, a people-driven business process outsourcing (BPO) company and global provider of contact center services, and ten of its employees participated in the annual Run for Peace and Unity, joining the Armed Forces of the Philippines and Philippine National Police as runners and peace advocates.

Organized by the Negros Oriental Sports Development Program, the two-day, 56-kilometer run was a featured event in the Philippines’ Peace Month Celebration. Local government units, the ICT Association of Dumaguete and Negros Oriental, as well as local BPO companies supported the event. While many BPO companies limit their participation to only the first day of the run, Qualfon was the only BPO to participate on the second day. As such, Qualfon employees were able to run alongside officials from the Philippine National Police in each town along the route.
The 56-kilometer run stretched from the city of Siation to Dumaguete, and the runners were literally carriers of peace. In the days preceding the run, the public was invited to write letters for peace and either send them to the event organizers or deliver them personally during the run. Along the route, runners collected letters from the hundreds and thousands of students and people who lined the streets cheering for peace and unity.

Qualfon’s ten runners divided the 56 kilometers among themselves, using a buddy system and roving van to trade off the baton and ensure continuous forward progress. At the finish line, they received special medals from the Office of the Governor of Negros Oriental as a way to say thank you.
